I still may be avoiding hooks and eyes...

Anyway, I'm now planning on another completely different Game of Thrones dress for Sunday at Costume College--a King's Landing handmaiden and others dress. I have silk on the way. I couldn't find any contrast fabric I like so I ordered plain silk and should stencil it but want to embroider it. And I couldn't find any neckline drawstring or whatever you'd call it trim, so just fingerloop braided some. Even with having to do it twice, it took less time than searching did.

This is supposed to be a quick costume. It's basically a tube. Leave it to me to make it more work! But it'll be easy to wear :)

Cersei number two fits. I have enough of the hooks and eyes in to check. And help because I can't put it on myself. There was no reason it shouldn't fit, except for the whole back closing thing you can never be sure about.

So nothing in the way of finishing now. Except laziness...

The satin is basted to the back of the dress lining, and the mesh is basted to the front. Next, baste satin to the front.

I rarely baste, but this one seemed necessary.

The triangles on the mesh look longer than the triangles on the first mesh. This would explain the length difference. Also, never hang either dress up.

I really hope I like this dress. I do in my head, but I never design things, so I hope I like it in reality

Oh, and no more students! Just check out tomorrow :)

So I'm actually cutting the 20s Cersei dress out. I'm lining it in lightweight black Pima cotton. I pinned it and tried it on, and I'm still happy.

So I got out the mesh and held it up. And it went from my chin to the top of my toes. My other piece went just below my knees. Um.

If I didn't wear four inch heels, I wouldn't have to piece it with this piece.

This does solve a mystery though. I thought it was weird that my dress was pieced so much higher than the original. I'm about four inches shorter than she is, and she was wearing heels too. Apparently the fabric doesn't just wiggle in opposite directions, the width is different too...

One day with the kids left, and I'm predictably catatonic. I have nothing left this time of year!

But, I think I'm going to force myself up and to cut out the 20s dress...

I sewed three hooks and eyes yesterday. Not three sets, three. It's a back to back closure with alternating hooks and eyes...

Instead of doing anything planned, I worked a little on Cersei's sleeves. I had tightened them, but decided they were a little too tight, but had trimmed them, so widened them about 1/4 inch. Even though they still feel a bit tight, I don't want them any wider and want to narrow the silver and black dress too.

But I'm so close to finishing that dress. This is good :)

I finished the dress last night!

Maybe today I'll sew the hooks and eyes I've been avoiding? Or cut out the 20s dress? Or work on the shawl. I don't know...

Awards night is always a long night, but it is nice to see the actual good kids.

I was planning on starting a shawl tonight, based on a fashion plate but I'm too zonked...

Embroidery thread has shipped! No delivery date yet, but it should be Friday or more likely Saturday, I think. So I can finish this weekend, hooray!

The 20s Cersei pattern is done.

I didn't sew it. It's just a shift dress. And typical of me not to.

Getting the dress base done will make the embroidery less daunting...

Since I can't work on the 1790s dress, I worked a little more on the 20s Cersei mockup. I think I have it, or am very close. I like the neckline, at least!

It needs to be a shift dress, not gathered sides like I initially thought. It's too full over the stomach like that. Fine for some styles, not this one.

I do want to fully sew a version though. Ick.

I thought I was using a 120 tambour hook since that was the largest with the set I bought. However, the 140 and 160 don't fit in the holder. Oops? Silly me for thinking Lacis needles would fit in a Lacis holder.

So, back to snagging lots. It's sort of funny because I'm almost done anyway :)

14 done, 16 left!

Finish this dress by the end of the school year so I can have all summer until Costume College for 20s Cersei.

I can do it. Depending on thread. And actually working tonight...

Just 18 sprigs left! I probably have enough light grey for ten more and enough dark grey for maybe twelve. One more spool of each should do it. I have way more than that coming. But I still like the idea of using it on the purple dress that I think is my next evening gown, so that's fine :)

There's always a countdown, right? 6 1/2 springs done, 23 1/2 sprigs left! And I'm not done for the night :)
