The bodice is almost done. One sleeve is sewn in, the other is pinned. Then it just needs the black panel at front and the cuffs. Now, the bodice ended up shorter waisted in back than I had anticipated. This is fine, as the back view Holbein sketch is about the same level and I really like the way the short back looks. However. The skirt that I cut to be 40 inches so I'd have extra room? Is now 38 inches. So I think it's going to be a little short. It's hard to tell without doing things properly, but it looks like it might be farther off the ground than I want. And even though I plan on wearing it looped up, I want it to be right when it's not looped up. So, it looks like I might be putting a band of black around the bottom. I can see if I entered this in competition. Yes I know I added a detail not in the drawing, but cat puke! I'm sure the judges would understand :) And speaking of looping up, the second attempt for the sash came today. Gorgeous color, but not what I want. Very modern looking. And I have enough issue with the green of the kirtle without adding to it with the sash. I'm thinking now I might just go for grey. My greys with green tone ideas have all come out solidly green. The kirtle looks more green each time I look at it. I think I'm trying to convince myself it has more grey in it and that's backfiring. (And the pictures are 100% not accurate.) Oh well, it's a very pretty green! And looks very pretty with the grey wool :) (Looking around, it's actually very similar to this green dress, when it's not changing in different lights, that is. I don't know why I'm worried about the color. It's light green. It's pretty. It's certainly a color that would've been possible!) It's after midnight? When did that happen? Last time I looked at the clock it was 11:38! Um, off to bed? Tags: holbein dress Current Mood: awake
